Welcome to our Red Vein Kratom category, your one-stop shop for some of the most sought-after strains of this fascinating botanical. Red vein Kratom has long been a favorite among both newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts, and it's not hard to see why. The distinct color of the veins in the leaves sets this variety apart and makes it easily identifiable.

Red Vein Kratom is harvested when the leaves have reached full maturity. No longer dividing their efforts between growing and contributing energy to the tree itself, these leaves have a new internal chemistry and present yet another alkaloid profile, a rich and mellow one especially rich in Mitragynine. Red vein Kratom won’t remind you of a fire engine: adding a bit of red pigment to its otherwise still-green leaves makes for an earthy green tone, sometimes verging on brown. We take great care in sourcing our red vein varieties from experienced, ethical growers. Rigorous quality control checks are performed to make sure that what you're getting is pure, authentic, and of the highest standard.

Trust Kraken Kratom to provide you with Red Vein Kratom that meet your needs and exceed your expectations. Whether you opt for powder, leaf, or capsules, we're confident you'll find something that piques your interest. Our secure, user-friendly website makes shopping easy, and our customer service team is always on hand to assist with any queries you may have. What's The Difference Between Kratom Strains?

Like many other plants, Kratom leaves come in a variety of colors. For example, many varieties of bell pepper can be picked when green for a bright, snappy taste, or allowed to turn yellow or red to emphasize their sweetness. Tea leaves can be harvested early to produce white tea, or later on to produce more traditional green or black tea.

The same applies to Kratom. Kratom is a specific species of tropical evergreen tree (Mitragyna speciosa) that hails from Southeast Asia. While all Kratom products are produced from this single species; the range of earthy colors available for sale has everything to do with how the leaves are harvested and dried.

In fact, the traditional way to categorize Kratom begins with the color of its leaves. White vein Kratom is harvested the earliest, Green vein Kratom is harvested as the leaves mature, and Red vein Kratom leaves are allowed to reach full maturity before harvest—much like red bell peppers. Yellow vein Kratom strains are often considered unique and less commonly found, with some enthusiasts suggesting that their distinct color may result from specialized drying methods or a blend of different vein colors. When it was harvested plays an important role in what alkaloids are present in Kratom.

The second element of traditional Kratom classification refers to its origin. Kratom is grown across wide stretches of Southeast Asia, and the specific conditions of different regions can produce slightly different results in the finished product. Whether you see White Vein Borneo, Red Vein Thai, or Green Vein Malaysian Kratom, you are looking at products produced from the same tree species but grown in different locations.

Geography may produce subtle variations in harvested Kratom, but color makes a big difference. Let’s take a closer look at the various vein colors of harvested Kratom, and exactly how they’re produced.

Our Kratom Strain Comaprison Chart shows the different strains of Kratom as they relate to various stages of the leaves development. Below, we’ll describe each strain in more detail.

Finally, red vein Kratom is harvested when the leaves have reached full maturity.

As Kratom becomes increasingly popular, marketing-savvy producers have taken the traditional color-based naming system and run with it. Yellow vein strains that begin with white Kratom leaves might be labeled Gold or Platinum, for example. Behind the marketing hype, though, lie the same factors that have always contributed to Kratom’s rich array of varieties: growing conditions, harvest time, and drying methods. The more you know about how your Kratom was produced, the more likely you are to get exactly the product you want.

How Does The Curing & Drying Process Impact Vein Color?

The Kratom drying and curing process is a fascinating, multi-step endeavor that greatly influences the vein colors of the resulting product. Traditionally, after the Kratom leaves are harvested from the Mitragyna speciosa tree, they are subjected to specific drying procedures that can include being laid out in the sun, placed under shade, or even put into specialized drying chambers. The duration and conditions of this drying process can cause the leaves' vein colors to change, turning them into the familiar red, green, yellow, or white varieties that you see in the marketplace.

There's a lot of discussion and speculation among enthusiasts about how exactly these drying techniques impact the vein colors of Kratom leaves. While some assert that the colors are indicative of how mature the leaves were at the time of harvest—red being the most mature, white the least, and green somewhere in the middle—others argue that it's the unique drying procedures that determine the final color. Factors like exposure to sunlight, indoor versus outdoor drying, and the length of time spent drying can all play roles in shaping the vein color of the end product. Regardless, the drying and curing process is an integral part of what makes each Kratom strain distinct.

What Are Kratom Alkaloids?

Kratom leaves have many different chemical compounds in them. All of these compounds are structurally different, which means that the effects they have on the body vary. The most well-known effects of Kratom are thought to be caused by mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine.

These two compounds are only two of the many Kratom alkaloids that can be found in Kratom leaves. They are the most prominent because they bind the most readily with the body’s receptors, but that doesn’t mean that the other Kratom alkaloids should be ignored.

The most common alkaloids found in Kratom are:

  • • Mitragynine
  • • 7-hydroxymitragynine
  • • Paynantheine
  • • Speciogynine
  • • Mtraphylline
  • • Ajmalicine

Understanding the Relationship Between Kratom Strains and Alkaloid

While many people are learning more about Kratom and its potential, not as many are familiar with its chemical components. Getting a basic understanding of these components is a worthwhile endeavor. After all, the benefits that Kratom consumers report are directly related to its chemical composition! Before you buy Kratom online, it’s important to gain an understanding of how it works.

Studies about Kratom and how it affects the body have been centered around its alkaloids. Kratom alkaloids, which are naturally occurring compounds found in many plants, interact directly with the body, so understanding them gives a better understanding of Kratom in a more general sense.

Many people are familiar with Kratom’s main alkaloid, mitragynine, and maybe even with 7-hydroxymitragynine, which occurs in much smaller concentrations. But there are actually dozens of alkaloids in the Kratom plant. What are these alkaloids, and what do we know about them?
