Safety, Kraken Kratom, and COVID: What’s The Deal?

With the ongoing pandemic and the responses happening in the United States, we wanted to take some time to share the Kraken Kratom’s response to this difficult time. We are still open for business, and we are happy that we are able to continue to supply our loyal customers with their kratom and other needed items at this time.

We already follow a rigorous set of safety standards in our warehouses to keep everyone safe. We also wanted to share more specifically how we are responding to COVID-19 alongside some useful information that may help our customers shop with less anxiety.

If you have any questions about our work, policies, or products, remember that you can contact us at any time through our website. We will get back to you as quickly as possible during this time!

Kraken’s Promise During COVID-19

We will do everything that we can to stay open for business during the pandemic, as well as continue to supply our customers in a timely manner.

Our business already follows very strict safety guidelines according to the Good Manufacturing Practices in the industry, and we have made them even more strict in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Keep reading to learn more about those responses.

While we are doing all that we can internally, we also wanted to do what we can to support the community around us. As such, we have been supplementing our usual donations to communities and organizations that may need addition help from us during this time:

  • Outside In
  • The Pixie Project
  • KIVA
  • Dads4Life
  • AKA
  • AHPA

When shipping out applicable orders, we have also been including free hand sanitizer when possible – something that we hope our customers will be able to put good use to!

We’re all in this together, and we’re proud to be able to help the community in a time like this. To read our updated policy at any time, you can find more information at our dedicated COVID-19 portal:

Our Warehouse Response

As we are able to continue our e-commerce business through this difficult period, we have made sure that we implement the necessary restrictions to make our operation as safe as possible for our employees and our customers.

As such, we have implemented a number of recommended policies as strictly as possible to ensure that we are doing our part to flatten the curve and protect as many people as possible.

Social Distancing

Here are the ways that we are promoting social distancing for our employees both inside and outside of the warehouse:

  • Limiting access to our facility
  • Ensuring social distancing is happening within the workplace
  • Educating employees about what social distancing to follow outside the workplace
  • Offering additional PTO to our team
  • Offering free alternatives to public transportation to our team
  • Setting up work from home when possible for some team members to reduce the number of employees in the facility

With these additional measures in place, we can assure you that we are doing our part in reducing contact between employees to keep them, and our customers, as safe as possible.

Product Handling

As a GMP-compliant facility, we already were following strict guidelines for product safety that included regular hand washing as well as wearing gloves and other protective equipment to ensure that our products remain contaminant free.

These procedures have been reviewed and reinforced during this time, and we will continue to ensure our products are handled with as much care as possible during this time.

Additionally, we continue to test our products through accredited, 3rd-party labs. We never sell products to our customers if they do not meet our strict guidelines for safety and quality, and that will not change during this period.

We have also reviewed all guidance promoted by the FDA and incorporated additional measures as needed to make sure our practices fit with their most recent information.

Increased Disinfecting

Our equipment and overall facility are regularly disinfected and sanitized to ensure our products are not at risk for contamination. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have increased the frequency of our deep cleaning and sanitization procedures as well.

We have always followed some of the most rigorous safety protocols in the industry, and we will continue to do so in order to properly approach this pandemic.

National Guidance on COVID-19

In terms of food safety, the CDC, FDA, and USDA have all made it clear that there is no evidence of COVID-19 being foodborne, which means that food safety is not altered by this pandemic.

Still, there are some basic prevention tips and information that can be useful to know:

  • The virus cannot be killed, but it can be disintegrated. This either happens on its own or through disinfecting with alcohol-based or heat sanitization methods that dissolves the fat layer on the virus and cause it to break down.
  • Washing hands with hot water for at least 20 seconds and then moisturizing hands is a great way to protect yourself.
  • The virus can survive on surfaces for a few hours or days, so disinfecting commonly touched areas frequently is good practice.
  • Disinfecting groceries and packages before you bring them into your home is a good idea as well.

For more information about how the FDA is recommending food manufacturers, warehouses, and workers to disinfect their equipment and continue to work as safely as possible, you can find their complete guide here.
